Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Appears in U.S. Court After Capture

Ousted Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro made his first court appearance in New York on Wednesday, facing charges including narcoterrorism and weapons-related offenses.

Maduro, who was removed from power earlier this year when US raided his country and captured him, appeared before a federal judge in Manhattan.

Prosecutors allege he was involved in drug trafficking and arms deals that threatened U.S. national security.

Maduro’s legal team has not yet issued a public statement on the charges.

The case is expected to draw significant international attention as Venezuela continues to navigate its political transition.
